Step-by-Step Guide to Download and Set Up Your CDA 6.14 VM in VMware:
Step 1: Download CDA 6.14 VM
- Download the CDA6.14_VM.ova file.
- You can find it in our PC APPS & Docs section [here].
- Save the file in a convenient location, e.g., C:\CDA6.ova.
Step 2: Download VMware Workstation 17
- Visit the VMware website and download the VMware Workstation 17 installer.
- You can also download the Windows version without creating a Broadcom account [here].
- Install VMware Workstation 17 by following the on-screen instructions.
- If you have VMware Workstation 16 installed, it will automatically upgrade to version 17.
- If needed, activate VMware using your registration key (for commercial accounts) or select Personal Use for free usage.
Step 3: Download VMware OVF Tool
- Go to the VMware OVF Tool Download Page and download the latest version of the OVF Tool (Windows version).
- Alternatively, you can download the Windows version [here].
- Install the OVF Tool by following the on-screen instructions.
- After installation, the OVF Tool will be available in the system's command line.
Step 4: Run OVF Tool to Import the OVA
Open Command Prompt (press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter).
Navigate to where the OVF Tool is installed. For example:
cd "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware OVF Tool"
Run the OVF Tool to convert the .ova file to a VMware-compatible format. Use the following command:
ovftool.exe C:\CDA6.ova C:\VMS\CDA6
This will extract and convert the OVA to a format VMware can open (a .vmx file).
Step 5: Open the VM in VMware Workstation 17
Launch VMware Workstation 17.
Go to File → Open.
Navigate to the folder where the OVF Tool saved the extracted VM (e.g., C:\VMS\CDA6).
Select the .vmx file (e.g., CDA6.vmx) and click Open.
Start the virtual machine by clicking the Power On button.
It may take some time the first start, but the VM will boot up. Be patient.
